Audi A6 vs. Lexus GS 350 in Cary, NC

When it comes to shopping for a midsize luxury sedan, there is certainly no shortage of options for Cary drivers. Still, the Audi A6 stands tall in the competitive segment thanks to a handsome interior made of premium materials, powerful and efficient engines, and wealth of standard and available features. One sedan in particular that is often compared to the A6 is the Lexus GS 350. On the surface, these vehicles appear to offer similar experiences in terms of layout, features, and performance. However, closer inspection reveals a few aspects that make the Audi A6 the superior choice.

  • Engine options: The Audi A6 offers two engine choices, including a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 power plant that generates 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Conversely, the Lexus's sole option manages just 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, despite offering more power, the Audi A6 is more efficient, achieving an EPA-estimated rating of 24 mpg. This eclipses the 22 mpg rating of the GS 350

  • Intuitive technology: While both models offer touchscreen infotainment systems with all the trimmings (smartphone integration, navigation, voice control, etc.), Audi's MMI interface is well known for being full-featured yet easy to use. On the other hand, Edmunds.com reports that the Lexus GS 350's controls are cumbersome and hard to use.
  • Foldable rear seatbacks: While both sedans feature the same size trunk, the A6 boasts rear seatbacks that fold down, creating a pass-through when more space is required. You simply can't do that in the GS 350.
  • Pricing: Despite its superior technology and more powerful and efficient engine, the Audi A6 still costs less than the Lexus GS350. With a starting MSRP of just $47,600, the Audi A6 represents a much better value than the GS 350 which cannot be had for less than $50,000.
